If you go far enough East on Main Avenue in Moorhead you'll find JC Chumleys Bar & Grill in the same location it has proudly served the community for more than 25 years… our location hasn’t changed but if you step inside you will see that everything else has. We are more than just your local bar down the street and we can’t wait for the opportunity to show you what we are all about!
On January 1, 2012 Chumley's switched hands from the previous owners of more than twenty years, Gary & Deb Peterson. The history of Chumley's began with the Peterson Family and all the memories they helped build within these great walls. For more than two decades this business was home for many college kids that put themselves through school working here. This building holds years of great memories for many locals as well as those traveling through stopping to see the “Cheers Bar of Moorhead” and so with that said, we do hope to forever remain the "friendliest bar in town.” Moving forward we plan to continue our efforts in creating a place that welcomes all, that is consistent in providing great service and quality food as well as to keep up with the ever-changing times this business and industry requires.
People have said for years we are the Cheers Bar of Moorhead and we are excited to keep that tradition going. This establishment prides itself on the great staff it encompasses and the very loyal patrons that have made it their stomping grounds over the years. Today Chumley’s is operated by a new management staff with innovative ideas and inspiration to bring Chumley’s to the next level. The two General Managers, Josh Henstorf and Marissa West, are just two pieces of the puzzle – surrounding them are more than twenty five employees that make this business go round.
Since the change of ownership many things have evolved. Physically, we gave it a much needed face lift and the blue prints to that are not far from completion. Thus far, the remodeling can be seen within our new “lights” and “open” atmosphere. We built and installed new bar tops, re-surfaced our table tops and re-freshed the look of the bathrooms. If you enjoy singing Karaoke or dancing to live entertainment you will appreciate the remodel to the west end of our building. We have opened up the seating and re-surfaced the dance floor as well as extended and re-carpeted our stage- it doesn’t stop there… all the interior walls have been custom painted to give a crisp view of the nearly 20 HD flat screen t.v.’s. If you haven’t watched any of your favorite sports teams here you will definitely want to tune in!
Not only have we created a fresh new look for Chumley’s but we also intend on providing a quality product that too will be ever-changing with the industry’s demands. We installed 5 new tap lines to bring our total count to over 10 and we intend to continue expanding our selection, so yes we now have premium micro beers on tap as well as seasonal beers from around the world. We also have incorporated a beer of the month so if you are interested in trying something new, this is for you!
Our menu has also experienced a face lift and we are currently only weeks out from our new menu hitting the tables. This past year we added a handful of appetizers that have been a huge hit with our patrons as well as a new wing menu that has been a success for us. If you really love hot stuff, stay tuned as we finish the final details to our “wing challenge”. Our Steak Night is going on 6 years and thanks to the communities continued support we have decided to make it bigger and better. .. We will unveil it oh so very soon!
Our hope for the continued success and future of Chumley’s is to remain true to being the “friendliest bar in town”, to continue to open our doors for people of all ages and crowds, and to be well known for the quality service and good times we pride ourselves on. Chumley’s did not just change ownership in January of 2012, as a business we took a vow to bring this business to the next level and that is exactly what we intend to do.
